Written by Rick Warren / Gfn2112 There are so many development studios that I love, and this second Top 5 is proof of that. Once again, here are some video game developers that I have an incredible amount of respect for. Feel free to share some of your favorites in the comments!

Written by Rick Warren / Gfn2112 Gamers often forget where their games come from. Demands are made, complaints pile in, and games are often judged on a scale of whether they’re “worth paying $____ for”. The people who make the games, sadly, are often an afterthought. Hundreds of hours of work are put in, along with a brutal crunch time close to release. Developers sacrifice their free time to deliver something they’re passionate about, and they deserve an endless amount of credit for feeding our passion to play games. This week, I’m sharing some of my favorite developers. Give it a read, and feel free to share some of your own favorites.
Written by Jose Gonzalez NOTE: The End will not be on this list as he can be killed without entering his boss battle.
The Metal Gear Solid franchise spans over 20 years and I can still remember the first battle against Revolver Ocelot with a tied-up Kenneth Baker or figuring out the pattern to finally beat Psycho Mantis. The franchise is known for many things, but two stand out; the story and the epic boss battles in every game (minus Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain because facing Sahelanthropus just wasn’t fun as far as a finale is concerned). However, there are plenty of battles to choose from, so having to narrow it down to five means it must stand out. So here are my top 5 boss battles across the MGS franchise, and as always, if you have a dissenting opinion, feel free to let me know. Written by Jose Gonzalez
While I started gaming in the SNES/Sega Genesis era, I didn’t become molded into a gamer until the Nintendo 64/PlayStation 1 generation of gaming. While I chose to go with the N64 and my brother chose the PlayStation, I still shared experiences on the console once I got my own, granted it was the PS One mini variant. I played anything from sports games to RPGs and adventure games when I had the PS1 (sadly, I never got the chance to play the original Crash Bandicoot trilogy or the original Tomb Raider games). With the exploration of remasters and remakes coming to the PS4 and the PS2 on PS4 section era containing its’ selection of games, the old guard isn’t being phased out as quickly as you think. If I had things my way, here are at least 5 games and/or franchises from the PlayStation 1 era that I think deserve the remaster/remake treatment on the PlayStation 4. Written by Rick Warren / Gfn2112 Admittedly, I’m not very good at fighting games. Even at my best I’m only slightly above average, as I struggle to pull off skill-heavy combos and usually resort to the embarrassing tactic that is button-mashing. Despite a history of losing, though, I really enjoy the genre. Due to that, this week I'm sharing my favorite fighting games, and I encourage you to do the same in the comments below. Let's get started!

Welcome to the Trials, a land run by the Entity who enjoys having survivors placed on hooks repeatedly, and killers placing survivors on hooks. I am your host, the David King with the most, ALFA_OverloRd! As David King, my primary job is to run around the map with the killer's attention dropping palettes to stun/hinder them, while, also, letting the other survivors get the 5 generators done, in order to escape. My secondary job is to unhook the survivors if the killer gets bored of chasing me, or decides: "Hey, I really am having trouble chasing this guy, so I'll go run somebody else down and attack them." Release Date: September 15, 2016 (JP)/April 4, 2017 (WW) Developer: Atlus ESRB: M Platforms: PS4, PS3 MSRP: $59.99 Written by Jose Gonzalez
NOTE: This will be a spoiler-free review (Well, as spoiler-free as possible) The Persona series has always been one to give you rich-driven content for your buck. Persona 5 doesn’t buck the trend at all here. While Atlus did have some fumbles promoting this game because of their strict policies regarding gameplay and streaming, many people still found ways to enjoy the game regardless. For someone who isn’t as versed in JRPGs, let alone the Persona series, what should you expect out of this game? Thankfully, none of the games are connected plot-wise so you don’t have to go back and play any of the previous games. Developer: Bluepoint Games Release Date: February 8, 2018 Platforms: PS4 ESRB: T MSRP: $39.99 Written by Rick Warren / Gfn2112 The announcement that a Shadow of the Colossus Remake was on the way came out of nowhere but was welcomed by virtually everyone. It’s a game that’s cherished by so many, and it’s stood tall for years as an example of why video games are so special. Having already remastered it for the PlayStation 3, Bluepoint took on a greater task by fully recreating this iconic game for PS4. Thankfully, they absolutely succeeded, and in doing so created something special that raises the standard for all remakes in the future.
Written by: Rick Warren / Gfn2112 As someone who never had a chance to play the Monster Hunter games, I had been waiting for the opportunity to dive into the swriew for quite some time. When that moment came, and Monster Hunter World was revealed to be getting a PS4 release, I jumped on board immediately. Betas came as the game inched closer and closer to its release, but I avoided them. If this was going to be my first experience with Monster Hunter, I wanted to get the full package from the start. The wait ended on January 26th, and I played the game nonstop for a week. These are my thoughts.
Written by Rick Warren / Gfn2112 I don’t think any form of media does trailers better than gaming. Entire conferences are held that are packed with them, and the trailers themselves can offer so much more due to the interactivity of the medium. Sure, this may cause some games to be shown too early and some games may become overhyped, but it’s still something that I love so much about the gaming industry. Good trailers bring so much genuine excitement, and this week, I’ll be sharing the five that excited me the most.
Written by Rick Warren / Gfn2112 With the explosion of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, it was only a matter of time before other games followed. From GTA V to Fortnite, developers were quick to adjust to the new climate that Battle Royale had created. The latter of those two examples proved that this new mode is something special, making Fortnite far bigger than Epic Games ever could have imagined. Further, the ease in which developers have been incorporating the mode makes it clear that virtually everything with an online component and flexible mechanics can have Battle Royale. This may eventually make Battle Royale-only games like PUBG disappear, but it also allows for plenty of unique takes on the mode. To me, that's exciting, and that excitement has led to the creation of this week's top five. Check it out!
